Friends,
I’m home tonight after this weekend’s trip to D.C., and I’ve been thinking about how strange and stellar the rhythm of travel can be.
There’s the practical side: the lines, the terminals, the routines that feel bizarrely familiar. But then there are these small, unexpected moments that cut through the noise.
For starters, I stumbled into a funny realization: American is finally upgrading its onboard coffee and they chose Lavazza. A good upgrade, no doubt. But also the same coffee Ryanair serves, which made me laugh out loud. Only in aviation could a premium push mirror the most famously no-frills airline in Europe.
From there, I went down the lounge-access rabbit hole on the podcast: specifically how you can get into American’s Flagship Lounges on domestic itineraries. It’s one of those quirks that feels almost too good to be true, but it’s very real, and it’s very useful if you know how to play it.
And then there’s Alaska Airlines. I posted a new vlog from a short California hop with them, and if you’ve never flown Alaska up and down the West Coast, you’re missing out. Great crew and thoughtful product touches make the whole vibe strong.
All of that ties neatly into a question I was sent earlier this week about United status, and why moving your loyalty can actually unlock more comfort than you expect. It’s fascinating how much your travel experience can change just by understanding the system instead of surrendering to it.
It’s all simple stuff, but it’s the simple that keeps travel interesting.
Fly well.
P.S. I almost included an advertisement in this send but it looked awful and your attention is valuable. That day may come (because someone has to pay for all this) but not today.
P.P.S. Newest vlog is below and ready for you.
