Going Back to Where You Have Been Before
(Or why I like flying through Minneapolis👇🏼)

Welcome
First—happy Sunday.
Personally and literally, this past week has been a bit all over.
On Friday, I flew from Kansas City back to Dallas via Minneapolis because Delta’s one-stop was cheaper than American’s nonstop. I could write a whole post about airline pricing dynamics, but I’ll save that for another time.
Passing through Minnesota felt like a gift. I grew up spending summers there with extended family, at a property my great-great-grandfather homesteaded in 1908.
Our place at the lake means a lot to me.
I could go on sentimentally, but the point (at least for today) is more about reflection. I’ve flown through Minneapolis just infrequently enough that each visit marks a distinct chapter—without it all blurring together.
It’s a gift to look back on the seasons of your life. To think about what you’d tell your younger self—and to wonder what your older self might one day tell you.
And better still to remember the God who sees it all, holds it all, loves you perfectly and cares deeply about the details—even trivial delights, like a connection through MSP.
Thanks for reading, and for flying with me here. I hope your Sunday is full of peace and perspective.
Be well,

Tommy
P.S. Today’s thumbnail is from a 2009 layover in Minneapolis, on my way back to Texas—where I’d fly on to Europe and, two weeks later, Hong Kong. I didn’t know it at the time, but that trip is where I’d meet my wife.
