How to Run an Airline & Should I Go for the Turkish Million?
(Also a sidebar update on the video project👇🏼)

Friends,
Delta is having a terrible awful no-good weekend as they struggle to recover from intense storms in Atlanta over the past 24 hours. They are walking the walk though, and showing the world how an airline should be run.
This internal memo effectively tells their above the wing teams to do whatever they need to do to get people to their destinations — and to say they are sorry plus provide proactive updates even though no one can control the weather. I’ve literally never read a bulletin like this in conjunction with a weather issue.
I am not seeking to minimize the severity of these storms nor the impact of a disruption like this causes — just to recognize there are a lot of ways to respond as a carrier.
There are reasons I like flying Delta, and then there are reasons I tell others to fly Delta. This is one of the latter scenarios. More than any other US carrier (on a broad-basis), Delta actively tries to do some semblance of the right thing when things go wrong. No airline is perfect, but this is not just a good crew or one-off scenario — it is notable the degree to which this is scaled within their organization.
On balance, they learned a lot after the disaster of last year’s Crowd Strike outage. But this is more than a step forward — it is a proactive movement to recover that substantially outstrips the competition.
And because people remember how you make them feel, it tends to be good for business.
I could go on, but I will stop there for now.
On a separate note — two updates, one of which I need to ask for your feedback on:
Your replies and encouragement always mean a lot. Seriously. And yesterday’s post about the Turkish Airlines million miles promotion seemed to have struck intrigue so I’d love your candid yes/no feedback — should I go for the million and live blog/vlog the journey?
I am reaching the finish line on the first new vlogs that I am excited to share with you here. No reply requested — I just wanted the accountability of sharing as I am close to the finish line but my edit template is taking a lot longer to get live than I hoped. Alas.
As always, your support means the world. Thank you for being on the journey with me here.
Fly well.
