Friends,

The World of Hyatt program was the first loyalty program I ever signed up for. Before I really understood points valuations or elite status perks, I just liked their brand.

Years later, not much has changed. Hyatt points are some of the most valuable in the game, and their co-branded credit card with Chase is one of the few hotel cards that actually pulls its weight.

The Current Bonus & Earnings

Letโ€™s start from the current sign up bonus. Right now, the card offers a strong, double-whammy:

  • Two free nights at any Category 1โ€“4 Hyatt after $4,000 in spend within 3 months

  • An additional 25,000 bonus points if you hit $12,000 total spend in the first 6 months

To my back of the napkin math, youโ€™re looking at over $1,000 in potential value if you redeem well โ€” and this current offer runs through August 28, 2025.

On top of this, the card delivers solid spending value โ€” though I use it primarily for hotel stays only and bigger purchases to hit the $15k per year โ€œspend sweet spotโ€ โ€” more on that below.

Card earning breakdown is as follows:

  • 4x points at Hyatt

  • 2x points on dining, airfare (direct), transit/commuting, and gyms

  • 1x everywhere else

  • No foreign transaction fees

You also get:

  • One Category 1โ€“4 free night each cardmember year

  • A second free night if you spend $15,000 annually

  • Automatic Discoverist status

  • 5 elite night credits every year, plus 2 more for every $5,000 spent

  • Basic but useful travel protections from Chase

The spend sweet spot I referenced above is that $15k threshold to land the second free night as well as six added elite night credits โ€” which are a great help if you are pursuing Explorist or Globalist status.

(Sidebar: Iโ€™ll write a post about why Globalist status is among best ever in hotel-world and link it here).

My Free Night Experience

I love Hyattโ€™s free night certificates: they can deliver great value all over the world.

Most recently, I used a cert at the only Hyatt-branded hotel in Conroe, Texas: the Hyatt Regency. Itโ€™s a new-build, quietly upscale, andโ€”at 9,000 to 15,000 points per night โ€”a great example of why I like Hyatt.

It wasnโ€™t a trip to Paris or Tokyo, but it was great for my purposes: a family adventure close to home, with a clean room, friendly staff, and a great breakfast. Plus it saved me cash during a busy season when rates were over $200 per night โ€” more than double the $95 annual fee.

I liked the hotel so much we stayed there again two weeks later after I landed in Houston (on the way home from Turkey). More here if you're curious: The Best (Only) Hyatt in Conroe, TX

Where It Fits

This isnโ€™t a premium travel card. No lounge access. No resort credits. But thatโ€™s kind of the point. If youโ€™re looking for a card that pays for itself with one stay a year and helps inch you closer to elite status, this is it.

And if youโ€™re sitting under the Chase 5/24 rule and havenโ€™t had a Hyatt card bonus in the last 24 months, the current offer is about as strong as this one gets.

Bottom Line

The World of Hyatt Credit Card is a quiet workhorse. No drama, no crazy fees. Just a few thoughtful perks and the best points value in the hotel gameโ€”Hyatt still punches above their weight.

If you stay with Hyatt even occasionallyโ€”and especially if you want a card that earns back its fee every single yearโ€”it deserves a spot in your wallet.

Iโ€™ll be reviewing a few more Hyatts here soon, too, in case it helps with your own travels.

Fly well.
